What is A-DART Not?
It is not a curriculum, evaluation tool, or one-size-fits-all PLC model. Instead, A-DART provides a shared framework and process that schools customize to fit their unique culture, students, and priorities..
What Core Problems does A-DART Address?
Schools are facing:
- accountability pressures tied to outcomes rather than conditions
- professional development that feels disconnected from daily practice
- teacher burnout and retention challenges
- declining enrollment and funding instability
Traditional PD models are not addressing these challenges at the systems level.
A-DART responds by treating student engagement as a leading indicator and by rebuilding professional learning around trust, inquiry, and shared responsibility.
What is the A-DART Framework?
All A-DART schools work within six universal engagement themes aligned to Marzano and Danielson (among others) research:
- Expectations
- Relationships
- Cultural Awareness & Belonging
- Classroom Management for Learning
- Feedback
- Learning Environment
Each school selects 2–4 themes as a Year 1 focus, based on local context and need. These themes become the anchor for PLC inquiry, student dialogue, and reflection.
How Does the Model Work?
Student Voice & Engagement Data
- Students complete WEI Dot and Engagement Dimension Collections approximately every six weeks
- Data captures perceived challenge, engagement, and classroom experience
PLC Inquiry Cycles
- Teachers analyze engagement and dimensional data in PLCs
- Teams identify focus areas and test small instructional shifts
- Reflection and adjustment are built into each cycle
Teacher Leadership
Leadership is distributed, not centralized
A small percentage of staff trained as PLC leaders
Leaders receive coaching and facilitation support
